The Masked Singer US unmasks Grandpa Monster as controversial YouTuber

"I was convinced that I was gonna make it to round three."

The Masked Singer spoilers follow.

The Masked Singer US has revealed the identity of its latest celebrity contestant, after unmasking the likes of Kermit the Frog, Caitlyn Jenner, and Danny Trejo so far.

In last night's (March 31) second battle between Group B, Grandpa Monster was eventually asked to leave the competition, having gone up against Black Swan, Chameleon, Piglet and the Wildcard Crab.

Unfortunately for Grandpa Monster, they failed to impress viewers with their rendition of Joan Jett's 'Bad Reputation'. An apt song choice, it turns out, as the star behind the Grandpa Monster mask was later unveiled as controversial YouTuber Logan Paul.

Opening up about his time on the competition, Paul admitted that he initially found it difficult to sing and dance at the same time – and even considered quitting the series after his first appearance.

Things quickly changed, however. "Once you just like open up and let go, this is a great place to be vulnerable and get a fresh start, if you will, because you're anonymous," Paul explained (via Variety).

"And the moment I fell in love with the show then I got eliminated in round two! That's just the way it works, man. When you get attached to things, you get screwed over!

"Never fall in love, kids. That's the lesson."

As well as expressing his "love" for his costume and Masked Singer alter-ego Grandpa Monster, the vlogger went on to reveal that he was "convinced" he had at least one more performance left to give.

"I was convinced that I was gonna make it to round three," Paul said. "I even said in the post-performance interview, I was like, 'There's no way I'm going home tonight, I felt like I crushed it.'

"I felt like the energy was there, I felt like my performance was fine."

The Masked Singer US airs on Fox, while its UK equivalent airs on ITV.
