The Masked Dancer unveils another true identity in latest elimination

They were BEET-en by Knickerbocker Glory in the dance off.

The Masked Dancer has unveiled the identity of Beetroot in its latest episode.

Saturday night's premiere saw Viper turn out to be Diversity's Jordan Banjo, while last night's instalment ended with Flamingo – or should we say Eternals' Louise Redknapp? – being booted out of the competition.

Tonight's (Monday, May 31) featured performances from Llama, Scarecrow, Zip, Beetroot and, of course, Knickerbocker Glory. But it was the latter two who failed to impress the viewers at home, and both ended up in the dreaded dance-off.

In a last-ditch attempt to keep themselves in the game, Knickerbocker Glory threw some shapes to The Pointer Sisters classic 'I'm So Excited', while Beetroot busted some moves to Elle King's 'Exes and Ohs.'

After much deliberation, panellists Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Strictly star Oti Mabuse and Jonathan Ross decided that Knickerbocker Glory had more to offer, which meant that Beetroot – who was revealed to be celebrity burlesque performer Dita Von Teese – was sent packing.

Explains the glamorous costume, all the references to the 1960s and clues about layers, eh?

"I thought it would be fun to do something unexpected and out of character for me… I've never done anything like this, and I'm not a competitive person, but I knew it would be hilarious," Von Teese said, following the unmasking. "I also knew people wouldn't expect me to be under the mask."

She went on to say that one of her favourite aspects of being a part of the show was the secrecy, and having to wear a disguise anywhere she went.

"The DON'T TALK TO ME sweatshirt, the blackout visor and trainers. I also enjoyed not having to put on my glam every day, I kind of enjoyed being make-up free under the disguise. But it was torture not knowing who the others were," Von Teese added.

"And it was hard not to be able to talk while on set. I really wanted to be able to chat with the dancing carrots and onions supporting me through the dance number…"

The Masked Dancer continues tomorrow night (Tuesday, June 1) at 7:30pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
