I'm a Celebrity 2021 - lineup rumours, location and everything you need to know

Get us in there!

I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! always hits screens towards the end of the calendar year, but that doesn't mean it's too early to start speculating about what the 2021 series will look like.

From the line-up to the location, here's everything you need to know.

I'm a Celebrity 2021 line-up rumours: Which celebs have signed up?

The 2020 line-up wasn't announced until mid-November, so we're going to be waiting quite a while for the official announcement.

But, as we all know, rumours start swirling long before that – so here's a rundown of who could be in the running for the 2021 series.

Who? Singer in Little Mix.

What's the rumour? During a radio interview with Heart FM's Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston (via The Sun), Jade revealed that she'd be open to the idea.

"I'll try anything once me, do you know what I mean? I'll give it a crack," she said, before later adding that she is "good at creepy crawlies."

Matt Baker

Who? TV presenter

What's the rumour? Matt's name has circled around the previous series, but we've yet to see him take part.

Having stepped down from The One Show in 2020, speculation was rife that he would be swapping the green sofa for the famous jungle campfire.

Addressing the rumours during an interview with Hello!, Matt said: "Well, it's funny because I read that too and it came as a complete surprise to me."

He later confirmed, "I haven't had any conversations yet", but that was last year.

During the same chat, Matt also refused to rule it out completely: "I am reluctant to say no to anything without having a good think about it."

Nadiya Hussain

bake off winner nadiya hussain on loose women

Who? TV chef and Bake Off winner.

What's the rumour? Nadiya revealed that she had turned down the 2020 series, but that part of her "regrets not doing it".

"It's just so cold in Wales: if I'm going to have cockroaches in my pants I'd rather it be in the sun, thanks. Still, I can't help wondering what it would have been like," she told The Guardian.

Maybe she'll decide to take the plunge this year? Particularly if the show can return to Australia...

Lucy Fallon

Who? Former Coronation Street star.

What's the rumour? Lucy was reportedly lined up to join the 2019 series, according to The Sun, but it didn't happen.

An ITV source was said to have told the publication that Lucy – who was also in demand for Strictly Come Dancing – had been in talks to appear the year before that, but had turned it down. She apparently confirmed her involvement in 2019, but obviously, it wasn't to be.

Is 2021 her year?

John Barnes

Channel 5

Who? Former professional football player.

What's the rumour? John Barnes has already appeared in a number of reality shows.

In 2018, he had a controversial run-in Celebrity Big Brother, which saw him leave via a backdoor eviction, and he's also appeared on Celebrity Masterchef, Strictly Come Dancing and Celebrity Supermarket Sweep.

John previously refused to rule out a stint in the I'm a Celeb jungle, but this could be the year that changes that.

The Vivienne

rupaul's drag race uk

Who? Drag Race UK star.

What's the rumour? During a guest spot on Lorraine last year, The Vivienne put herself forward and said that she would love to be a part of I'm a Celebrity.

"I'm petrified of spiders but get me to that jungle, I'd do it," she said. "What a great life opportunity that I'm never going to get again... I am all for that!"

Eric Cantona

Who? Former pro-footballer.

What's the rumour? In 2017, former ITV execs told BBC 5 live that Cantona had said no to a whopping £1 million offer to appear on the show.

Producer Richard Cowles has since spoken highly of him and again said how much they'd love to get him on.

"I just like the idea of Eric Cantona talking in French and coming up with really profound things. That would be good," he said (via The Sun).

Lorraine Kelly

lorraine kelly

Who? TV presenter.

What's the rumour? Lorraine's name has come up year after year as a possible I'm a Celebrity campmate, but we've got some bad news for those that have been holding out hope of seeing her compete in the trials.

This year, Lorraine appeared to rule herself out of a number of reality show appearances, including Ant and Dec's series, telling viewers that she does not want to "eat a kangaroo's bum" (via Mirror).

Roy Keane

Who? Former professional footballer and manager, now a pundit.

What's the rumour? Chatting to The Sun, Dec cited him as one of his dream contestants.

"Roy Keane for me," he said. "I'd love to see him treat his fellow campmates with the same disdain he treats Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Jamie Redknapp.

"He'd be no-nonsense, he wouldn't put up with stupidity from the others. He's top of my list."

Mark Labbett

mark labbett the beast, on the set of beat the chasers

Who? Chaser on The Chase.

What's the rumour? Despite the fact that he's previously revealed he would rather hit the dance floor on Strictly than sit around a campfire on I'm a Celebrity, Mark has been linked to the ITV reality show for a number of years.

He has previously turned down or ruled out the opportunity, but maybe 2021 will be the year?

Tommy Fury

Who? Boxer and Love Island star.

What's the rumour? Tommy's name was put forward as a possible contestant for the 2020 series but, of course, we now know that he didn't take part.

He's been training and working hard on his boxing, so we're not too sure that another reality show stint is on his radar at the moment – but you never know!

Stephen Mulhern

stephen mulhern catchphrase

Who? TV presenter. Gigs include Britain's Got More Talent, Catchphrase and Big Star's Little Star.

What's the rumour? He told The Mirror that he's never been asked to appear on the show but if he was, he'd need an offer of £3 million to convince him to do it: "I don't know if you're aware but in terms of eating, I've got a very, very plain palate and the thought of putting stuff in my mouth... I don't know if I could do it.

"I think that show is the only thing that could break me, because the idea of doing the stunts and the heights and the jumping out of a plane, that would have to be top dollar to even consider it."

Perri Kiely

dancing on ice 2020 contestant

Who? Kiss FM presenter, Diversity dancer, and former Dancing on Ice contestant.

What's the rumour? While speaking about other reality TV shows he would consider, Perri told Digital Spy exclusively that he'd be up for the jungle, despite fellow Diversity member Jordan Banjo not enjoying it.

He said: "Jordan has been in the jungle, and I love that normally everyone comes out and they're like, 'Oh my god, it was the greatest experience of my life. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.'

"Jordan came out and was like, 'That was the worst thing I've ever experienced. Never send me back in there again.' So I've got, like, two perspectives of it. But I'd like the challenge. So yeah, get me in there, why not?"

I'm a Celebrity 2021 start date: When will it air?

Series 4-20 have all kicked off in November and run through to December, so we'd expect it to follow that pattern once again.

The official start date is usually announced closer to the time, so we'll keep you updated with news and announcements as they happen.

I'm a Celebrity 2021 location: Where will it be filmed?

For the first time in the show's history, the cast and crew swapped Australia for Gwrych Castle in Abergele, North Wales for the 2020 series due to the impact of the pandemic.

But will that be the case this year?

Chatting recently (via PA), ITV's chief executive Dame Carolyn McCall said: "If we can go back to Australia – and this show is meant to be in Australia – then that's what we'll do.

"We have a very good plan if not, as we have already done it once [in the castle]."

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy for issue 6 of our Apple News+ magazine, Ant said he'd be "very happy" to return to Wales if necessary, adding: "We were very welcomed in Wales. There were cardboard cut-outs of me and Dec in the butcher's, and the local school did a tribute. We'd happily go back there. We'd miss the sunshine, mind."

Dec was also full of praise for the Welsh: "The people in Wales were lovely. They made us feel very welcome. I had a lovely time.

"I will miss the sunshine, but I will not miss the jetlag of coming back from Australia. I'd love to go back to Oz. But if we had to go back to Wales, I wouldn't be disappointed."

So there you have it. Australia is destination number one and if that can't be arranged, it looks likely that it will be back in Wales.

According to an insider (via The Mirror), even the cast and crew won't know where they'll be setting up shop until much further down the line: "Everyone is keen to get back Down Under this year but, of course, it depends on what the Australian authorities will allow.

"We won't know for sure if we can get back to the Gold Coast until the start of autumn when things will be much clearer. Until then, it's a waiting game."

Having said that, a recent report on Mail Online (May 16) speculated that show bosses may need to make a location decision sooner rather than later.

According to the publication, ITV bosses responded by confirming they have 'plans in place' for both Australia and Wales, but that no decisions had been made yet.

Ant and Dec are such a huge part of the reality show, so we'd expect the pair to reunite once again for the upcoming series.
