Love Island's Olivia Bowen opens up about her psoriasis on Instagram

"I KNOW how much I would have loved to see someone in the public eye with it."

Love Island star Olivia Bowen has opened up about living with psoriasis in a new Instagram post.

The star, who was a runner-up on the 2016 series of the ITV2 show alongside now-husband Alex Bowen, shared a new lingerie shoot on her page.

Speaking about the skin condition in her Stories, Olivia explained: "Some days I don't wanna look at my skin, some days I don't care, some days I love it. The reality is it just doesn't f**king matter in comparison to what is worth our time in the world.

"I just get on with my life & do my work & enjoy being alive & live my best! The main reason I acknowledge my psoriasis online is because I KNOW how much I would have loved to see someone in the public eye with it when I had it last at 17 years old.

"It shouldn't even be a thing to be honest, but I know how on bad days it can get you down. Your messages on how much it helps seeing me confident with it are really lovely. Really so sweet & I'm happy that you guys can take something away from seeing someone just living with it. You can too!"

Olivia has since received praise from her followers for helping to break down the stigma around it, with one writing: "I applaud you for normalizing REALITY when it comes to what culture deems 'imperfections' I think you're absolutely gorgeous."

Another added: "Thank you for sharing! I've also recently started posting and being more open about my struggle with Psoriasis!! I know how hard it can be sometimes but so inspiring to see others being confident about it."

Meanwhile, Olivia and Alex recently defended Love Island from claims of fakery in an exclusive chat with Digital Spy.
