"I GOT A TEXT!"

Love Island 2021 is right around the corner, and the buzz is building and building.

The summer of 2020 was unrecognisable for a number of reasons, one of which was the complete absence of a new series of Love Island in the UK.

Following some speculation over whether the series would be back for this year, it was finally confirmed in a statement from ITV.

"Love Island returns for its seventh sizzling series, as a host of new singletons seek to find their perfect match... Returning to ITV2, the Islanders must do their best to flirt, date, couple up, and try and avoid being 'dumped'.

"With new arrivals, heads may turn, while others will prove their true feelings.

"From romance and heart-to-hearts to betrayal and broken hearts, there's never a dull moment in this ultimate search for love."

Sounds like the show we know!

As for the future of the winter version, it's also been confirmed by ITV that there are no plans at the moment. "We are currently focusing on the forthcoming summer series," a spokesperson told Digital Spy.

Here's everything you need to know about Love Island UK 2021.

The lineup for Love Island series seven has been officially announced, and we've got 11 singles to kick things off.

We've got an Operations Lead for the Department of Transport, a PE teacher, a water engineer, and a fashion blogger in the mix.

The Sun had previously reported that the casting team was on a mission to deliver "the most diverse line-up ever".

"Bosses know that all eyes will be on them when the show returns later this year, so they want to make sure that they can't give anyone anything to criticise them over," said an insider.

"In the past the show has been criticised for... having a lack of body diversity. Viewers want to see women and men that they can relate to and hot singletons come in all shapes and sizes so this is a positive move.

"They've also been criticised for being too white, and this is something that they will be addressing. The casting team has been told to get the most diverse line up ever. It's being seen as a bit of a long-overdue shake-up."

The cast announced so far doesn't quite seem to have fulfilled much of this, but we've always got the bombshells... right?

But in May it was all but confirmed that, as restrictions continue to ease across the UK and beyond, the ITV2 dating show would be going back to Spain.

ITV Commissioner Amanda Stavri told RadioTimes.com: "We haven’t announced anything officially but Mallorca is very much the home of Love Island."
