The Masked Dancer season 1, episode 7 spoilers.
The Masked Dancer has unmasked its latest celebrity.
On last night's (February 10) semi-final, it was down to Sloth, Tulip, Cotton Candy and Zebra – though the latter's performance of 'Mack the Knife' didn't cut it in the end.
After a number of clues that pointed towards someone athletic, notably gold medals, Zebra was finally unmasked as… boxing champion Oscar De La Hoya.
Speaking afterwards, the boxer admitted of his time on the show: "It was probably the best experience I've ever had. I think being the Zebra is a lot tougher [than being in the ring]."
De La Hoya was then asked about the loved one he lost that he dedicated 'Mack the Knife' to, the star answering: "My mother, she passed away from breast cancer right before the Olympic Games, so that gold medal is for her."
Following his exit, the boxer revealed that friends and family had contacted him beforehand with suspicions that he was Zebra, though explained that he wanted to keep the element of surprise.
"Oh, yes, I've heard from many actually," he told Entertainment Weekly. "And I've had no response because I know that if I respond back to them, I'm gonna say, 'Yeah, I'm the Zebra.' I want everybody to watch it tonight and be surprised that was me.
"The only one I told was my little daughter, Victoria. She's like six years old. But she didn't get it. She was like, 'What? You're a zebra? What's that about?' So I can't wait to watch it tonight with them and with my kids. When they take off my mask, they're gonna see Papa."
The Masked Dancer airs on FOX in the US.
