What is Amazon Prime Day?

If you've not taken part before, you should know that Amazon Prime Day is the second-biggest online shopping event of the year, just behind the Black Friday sales.

It's Amazon's chance to sell you some of its best gadgets and gizmos from loads of top brands at heavily discounted prices, as long as you're signed up to Prime.

Despite being called "Prime Day", the event usually lasts around two days, with deals on games consoles, smart speakers, electric toothbrushes, 4K TVs, and everything in between.

When is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day 2021 will arrive at one minute past midnight on June 21 and will finish at midnight on June 22.

Despite changes to Prime Day during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic (which was delayed to October), Amazon is returning to the summer sales, dropping this event a little earlier than usual.

How to sign up for Amazon Prime

To get the most out of these sales, you'll need to sign up to Amazon Prime, which is the subscription service that gives you free next-day deliveries on anything you buy.

You can sign up for either £79 for the year, or £7.99 each month, and you'll unlock thousands of exclusive offers in the lead-up to Prime Day and throughout the sale, helping you spot the latest deals when they arrive.

Best Fitbit Prime Day deals

You can often find some pretty good deals on Fitbit's products throughout the bigger sales periods of the year, and we have often seen prices drop by up to 30% in some cases.

The biggest discounts can be found on pricier devices, like the latest Sense or the Versa 2. These will typically cost more in general but will have a significant amount shaved off for just a short time.

As most Fitbit watches can cost between £70 and £200, you'll be looking for at least a £30 price drop to make it worth picking up.

Right now, the prices have already slipped down, dropping between £10 and £60 on some of the better watches.

For example, Fitbit's new Sense smartwatch is £247, down from £299.99, right now, saving you £52. Last year, we saw prices as low as £229.99.

The slightly cheaper Fitbit Charge 4 normally gets heavily discounted, to the point where it drops below £100 in the Prime Day sales. It's a much more refined device that doesn't have too many smart features like app downloads or text messaging, but it can still track your goals, count your steps, and help you get fitter.

Right now it's dropped by £30, down to £99, which is a great price to jump in on if you're interested.

Fitbit's Versa 3, a slight upgrade on the one above, has also been reduced from £199.99 down to £159.

If you don't need a fancy smartwatch and you just need to track your steps or your heart rate, the Inspire 2 series is worth checking out.

It's a thinner band with a narrower screen that just does the basic fitness tracking. It has a £25 discount on it right now so will cost £64.99. Prices have been a smidge lower in the past, as low as £60.

If you want to get your children more active over the summer, there's also the Ace 2, which is designed specifically for kids to help them stay focussed on their goals.

It's dropped down to £49.29 in the sale (from £69.99) so could be a decent bargain as a birthday gift this year. It has a smaller wrist strap, counts steps, calories, and sleep patterns, and also comes in a variety of colour options so you can make yours unique.

Fitbit itself might also run special deals on its wearables so head over to the official website to see if there are better prices there.
