After some back and forth, Nikau declares that he's returning to the Parata house – making the family united in the battle against Paul. Mac is comforted by the idea that Leon is unlikely to attack with the cops hovering. She persuades the boys to have a normal night.
Nikau is on his way to Salt when an ominous car almost runs him over before screeching away. Rattled, Nikau escapes to the Surf Club. There is relief when Ari brings home a shaken-up Nikau. They reluctantly accept the fact that Leon is coming for them all.
Meanwhile, Owen struggles to understand why Roo's family all hate him. Roo admits she didn't say anything and they came up with their own stories. Roo continues to hide her feelings to Owen, which only makes his frustrations grow to the point that he storms off. Roo laments to Marilyn over her failed apology, fearful the relationship is doomed.
Owen apologises to Roo, asking if she still wants to try to work through this. Roo has only been in such a flap because she wants that too. Owen offers to give her space so she can figure things out. It leaves them more hopeful, but Roo remains troubled – can she untangle her messy feelings?
Elsewhere, in pain and struggling to walk, Justin is supported by a concerned Leah. Justin downplays – he asked for help, but now intends to ride this out. Leah remains concerned but grows cautiously optimistic when Justin's mood improves. He presents a brace face, refusing to contact Christian and intending to sleep off the pain instead.
When Leah checks in on Justin, she is shocked to find him in agony. Beside herself with concern, she wants to get him to hospital, but Justin insists upon waiting for his next dose of painkillers. Unable to watch him torture himself, she eventually puts her foot down and calls for an ambulance. In agony, Justin relents. Leah is left fearing his life could be in danger.
