Fast and Furious star Paul Walker's daughter pays tribute to late actor on his birthday

The actor would have been 48 yesterday (September 12).

Fast & Furious star Paul Walker's daughter has paid tribute to the late actor on what would have been his 48th birthday.

Walker died in December 2013 from injuries sustained in a car crash, just two and a half months after turning 40. At the time of his death, he had partially completed his work on Furious 7.

On his birthday, September 12, his daughter Meadow Walker shared a photograph of herself when she was a child with her father, both dressed in blue.

"Happy birthday daddy, I love you," she wrote.

As Walker hadn't finished filming on the seventh Fast & Furious instalment at the time of his death, the story for the film was rewritten and his brothers Caleb and Cody stood in for him on set. The Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth song 'See You Again' was written in Paul's memory, and became a massive hit.

The most recent instalment, Fast & Furious 9, or F9, released a few months ago, and during promotion for the film, Tyrese Gibson reflected on how the cast were able to carry on following the loss of their friend.

"The first thing all of us were struggling with was, 'What the hell are we doing here? What's Fast & Furious without Paul?'" he said.

"And are we going to come off as just a bunch of narcissists that's moving and proceeding and deciding what Paul meant to the franchise, and going to say, 'We're moving forward anyway'? So we had to become each other's therapists.

"Because if you lose someone and you put it up on social media or the word gets out that you lost someone, you don't want to hear from everybody – you want to hear from the people that knew him the most. So we made sure that we were there for each other in a real way."

F9 featured Walker's character, Brian O'Conner, drive up in his car without being seen, confirming he is still alive in the series canon. At the moment, there are conversations happening about whether Brian will return through CGI in the next entry.
